Independent travel. Sounds great, but what is it?

For us, independent travel means moving away from package tours and toward authentic cultural experiences. It’s travel that goes beyond poolside tanning behind the high walls of a hotel compound. Independent travel endeavors to remove barriers that exist between travelers and locals, thus removing stereotypes and prejudice and challenging the power of propaganda. It’s not the kind of travel that appeals to everyone. It means supporting locals as much as possible with a genuine effort to understand them. It means being uncomfortable and out of your comfort zone. But independent travel also means life changing experiences that benefit everyone involved.

Here at ToastedRaisins we wholeheartedly support independent travel and aim to practice what we preach in every trip we take. We help you bring the beauty of travel into your space in the form of high quality art prints. Read more about independent travel HERE
